Bio
Raised in a militarized village, Sebastian developed an ear for the peaceful and a love for dirt.
After his studies of classical music and Communication Sciences at the university of Leuven, where he specialized in musical jokes and humor in the music of Frank Zappa, he studied Radio at the RITCS where he specialised in the use of field recordings as a way to create sonic displacements.
Intruiged by the emotional and narrative functions of sounds in storytelling and music, he now researches the sonic qualities of objects and sound for the Sonic Research Kitchen.
He works in and outside the studio, composing, recording, mixing and making radio and sounddesign.
With the collective Varkenshond he builds and manipulates instruments. The so called ‘tooter of life’ remains the bands’ favorite.
As a member of the Collective Public Sound and the Megaphone Ensemble, he explores public spaces as a stage. As such, the properties of architecture and geology become build-in sonic effects.
He uses listening as a way, recording as practice, manipulation as method and performing as medium.
